Study trip to Mayen
Cordial invitation to all
Every year, the Pottery Museum Raeren organises a study trip with the aim of providing new insights into the world of ceramics. This year, the study trip will take the participants to Mayen.
The Eifel town of Mayen is particularly interesting for those interested in ceramics, as it was the only place that produced ceramics on a large scale continuously from Roman times until the Middle Ages. Participants will first have the opportunity to get to know the Laboratory for Pyrotechnological Studies and Experiments of the Leibniz Centre for Archaeology (LEIZA) and the projects and experimental firings carried out there on Mayen ceramics. In the afternoon, there will then be a guided tour in German of the "EifelTotal" exhibition in the Eifelmuseum Mayen. An extensive lunch break will also offer the opportunity for individual exploration of the town centre.
Departure is at 08:15 from the car park opposite Raeren Castle. The return is planned for 06:00 pm. The cost of the tour is 15 euros per person and includes travel by bus, entrance to the museum and participation in the guided tour. Drinks, food or other refreshments are not included.
