Photo contest

Due to the corona pandemic, the Raeren Pottery Museum is extending the POTT IN THE SPOT photo competition until September 30, 2021.

The photo competition is aimed at professional and amateur photographers of all ages, children included. The aim is to capture the museum, its collections and/or activities from an external and nieuw perspective. To top it all off, a joint exhibition of all works and the awarding of several prizes will take place after the competition!

The photos must reveal the Pottery Museum, its collections and/or its activities in a new light. There is no limit to the artistic creativity of the photographers. Whether traditional photographs of objects, photos including people, 360° views, portraits and still lifes based on the model of the old masters, modern comparisons, abstract compositions or sophisticated montages - everything is possible. Each participant can submit a maximum of 3 photographs. The extension also means that photos can be submitted that will be taken during the upcoming Euregio Ceramics Market (September 11-12, 2021).

All participants of course have free access to the museum. In addition, the museum is accessible on MONDAYS BY APPOINTMENT, so that you can photograph in peace outside the opening hours reserved for visitors. We are happy to help you if you wish to access certain objects placed in the showcases, want to use museum spaces for a photo session and/or require additional thematic information. The Pottery Museum also has an installation for taking 360° photos of objects, which can be used on request.

All photographs must be submitted in JPEG format and contain at least 300 DPI (or 5000 Px for the longest side). Children do not have to meet these technical requirements. The files are named according to the following scheme: NAME-FIRST NAME-YEAR OF BIRTH-TITLE OF THE WORK. The deadline for sending the photographs is September 30, 2021. Photos can be uploaded directly via a link at the bottom of this article. In addition, an e-mail with the participant's contact details must be sent to to confirm registration.

After the competition, the photos of all participants will be presented to the public in an exhibition. In the category of amateur photographers, a public prize and a jury prize will be awarded by age group (children up to 12 years old - young people from 13 to 18 years old - adults). In the category of professional photographers, only one winner will be selected by the jury, who will then receive an order from the museum for an advertising campaign.

By participating, the photographers agree to transfer the rights to use their photos to the Raeren Pottery Museum for an unlimited period. The transfer of the rights of use is done on the basis of the Creative Commons License CC BY-NC (free use and treatment for all non-commercial purposes by indicating the name of the author of the image). When people are visible in the photos, their written consent must be given to the photographer. The Raeren Pottery Museum is not responsible for any violation of image rights.
